InvisIBlE THReaD

The ‘Invisible Thread’ project began in 2018 and finishing in Spring 2021. Working alongside the NHS, we piloted creative wellbeing groups for new mums and their babies in Gloucestershire – to improve maternal mental health and wellbeing.

We devised the ‘Invisible Thread Doorstep Gigs’ – intimate acoustic performances featuring violin, guitar and song, made to connect, uplift and celebrate mums with babies up to 13 months old. Fifteen minutes long they took place on doorsteps, in cul-de-sacs and outside blocks of flats where families and neighbours were welcomed to also toe-tap along.

What we achieved

In April 2021 our musicians performed to 107 mothers and babies – with over 100 family members, friends and neighbours also enjoying the sweet harmonies.

“ it’s such a huge testament that we all want to carry on meeting up, to continue to support each other and have a much needed giggle and place to be!”
